Early Voting
During the 8 days prior to Election Day, an Early Voting site must be open from either 8:30am or 9:00am to 7:00pm. The site must be open 14 hours during the weekend of November 1st and 2nd and NO Photo ID is Required. Grace Period Registration and Voting
This effectively creates Election Day registration and voting for the 2014 General Election. Please Note, grace period registration and voting is allowed only at permanent Early Voting locations, and grace period voters will cast provisional ballets
Absentee Voting (Vote by Mail)
Illinois voters do not need a reason to vote absentee, either in person or by mail. Starting August 7, a voter may request an application for an absentee ballot from their local election authority or download an application from the State Board of Elections at elections.state.il.us/votinginformation/absenteevoting.aspx Completed applications should be mailed to the local election authority. Absentee ballots will be mailed beginning September 25th. Mail applications must be received by October 30th while the deadline for in-person applications is November 3rd.
In-Person Absentee Voting at State Universities on Election Day
In-person absentee voting on Election Day will be available at the University of Illinois (Campaign-Urbana and Springfield), Southern Illinois (Carbondale and Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and Western Illinois(Macomb and Moline).

For the first time in Illinois, residents can now register to vote online at ova.elections.il.gov You can also update your Address via the online voter registration application.
